churros – the classic sweet treat enjoyed in many Latin countries and now found in many restaurants around the world. But, if you've never experienced churros before, what exactly do they taste like?
A churro is a fried dough pastry in the shape of a ridged long tube. The traditional version is typically made with wheat flour, sugar, butter or oil, and some kind of flavoring such as vanilla or cinnamon. After being cooked and cooled, churros are often covered in sugar, honey or chocolate before being served.
The crunchy texture of a churro is one of its most distinctive characteristics. When bitten into, the fried dough is surprisingly crunchy on the outside with a soft inner layer. Depending on their preparation, the sweet treat can taste different from place to place. However, each one is typically characterized by hints of sweetness from the sugar on its exterior and its buttery centre adds extra delicious layers of flavour to it.
In addition to traditional churros, there are also other variations which usually incorporate different flours than wheat as well as different flavourings for an even more unique experience. From adding chocolate chips in between each ridged section to even folding it over itself to form a diamond shape before frying it; there are unlimited delicious options to try when it comes to these tasty treats .
